York Club
The York Club is a private social club incorporated 22 November 1909 and located in The Annex neighbourhood in central Toronto, Canada, close to the University of Toronto (U of T). Its building was originally constructed in 1889 as a home for George Gooderham〔(Dean Beeby, “GOODERHAM, GEORGE,” ) in Dictionary of Canadian Biography, vol. 13, University of Toronto/Université Laval, 2003–, accessed October 11, 2015.〕 and his large family, taking nearly three years to complete.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://occasionaltoronto.blogspot.com/2011/02/york-club.html )〕 The architect was David Roberts Jr., who designed the building in the Romanesque Revival style. After George Gooderham died in May 1905, at the age of 74, his widow Harriet Gooderham sold the home and moved to a smaller home at 224 St. George Street.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.lostrivers.ca/points/yorkclub.htm )〕 == References ==
